Dr Kate Burry

Dr. Kate has always been passionate about Dentistry. Dr. Kate began her career in healthcare as a Registered Nurse after completing a Bachelor of Nursing Science in at James Cook University (JCU) in 2015. Before long she was drawn into the fast-paced environment of Emergency and Intensive Care Units, and completed a Graduate Diploma in Emergency Nursing. After a number of years Dr. Kate was ready for another challenge, and dentistry appeared to be the best fit.

This turned out to be a great decision. From the moment Dr. Kate started the Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the state of the art facilities of JCU Cairns, she has loved it. For Dr. Kate, seeing her patients benefit from a beautiful healthy smile brings her joy everyday. She thoroughly enjoys getting to know her patients stories and hearing what they have been up to in the year since their last check up.

Since graduation Kate has been working in private practice in North Queensland, including years working in Weipa, Cape York, where she was the lead dentist. In 2021 she relocated to Brisbane with her family and is excited to join the team at My Gentle Dentist.

Dr Kate is experienced in all areas of general dentistry and prides herself on being conservative with a minimally invasive approach. Because of this she has a special interest in Endodontics (root canal therapy), relief of pain and restoration of oral function. Dr Kate also has an interest in smile makeovers and facial rejuvenation using cosmetic injectables. She maintains memberships and continuing education with the Australian Society of Endodontology, Australian Prosthodontics Society, and the Australian Dental Association.

When not at work you will find Kate out camping and hiking or hanging out with her family, friends and cheeky doggo, Ziggy.
